Bee

Bee is one of the few adult (adolescent, actually) cats that we’ve removed from campus. Living in the most populous part of the colony, we saw Bee as a kitten but were unable to trap them despite weeks of trying. When Bee was about 6 months old, some of the folks who feed the cats reached out to us believing them to be pregnant. We were able to track Bee down and got convinced of the same.

maybe pregnant
Does this cat look pregnant to you?

It took some time, but we were able to get Bee into a trap and brought them home to have the kittens. After a month or so had passed, we realized we were wrong about the preganancy and took them to the vet to be spayed. We got a call that day that the spay turned out to be a neuter and that Bee was a boy. We’re still not sure why so many of us were convinced he was pregnant, but we decided to see how he acted after recovering from surgery.

Bee is now free roaming in our house and we’re gradually making progress with getting him comfortable with humans. We’re able to pet him while he’s getting treats and he is often in the same room with us and interacting with the other cats. We’re hopeful that in the not too distant future Bee will realize life as a housecat and with human attention is a good thing and the perfect forever home will turn up.
